The European Commission has given the green light to Italy's ambitious agrivoltaics incentive scheme, designed to provide funding for the deployment of 1.04 GW of solar installations across the country. The scheme includes investment grants of up to 40%, as well as 20-year tariffs to encourage the uptake of solar technologies. With a €1.7 billion budget, the initiative is expected to boost Italy's renewable energy sector and create employment opportunities in the country. The scheme's agrivoltaic system components will also help farmers to grow crops in the shade of solar panels, thereby increasing land use efficiency and environmental sustainability.
