919MW New Solar Installation in Germany in September

Oct 22, 2023

50MW ground solar project

Germany continued its strong pace of solar energy installations in September, adding 919 MW of new photovoltaic (PV) capacity, according to data from the Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur). While slightly lower than the record-breaking 1,056 MW added the previous month, it was still significantly higher than the 750 MW added in September last year. The total installed solar capacity for the first nine months of this year was 10.72 GW, compared to just 5.6 GW in the same period in 2020. This indicates a huge shift towards renewable energy in Germany, where solar power is becoming an increasingly important source of electricity generation. The strong growth in solar energy installations is expected to continue, as the country aims to reach its target of generating 65% of electricity from renewable sources by 2030.
